Think about it. How many people do we meet that try to be like others or are stuck in kid mode there whole lives because they never find out who they really are. Ministries that are always trying to be the next successful church on the street corner because someone else reached a certain number or success. Now don't get me wrong, I go to the conferences too and try to learn all that I can from these guys. But think about how many compare themselves with these "successful churches" and never become what God has called them to be. We could have more successful people in our world today if we just stayed true to who God called us to be!

Remember what Paul said...When they measure themselves with themselves and compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding and behave unwisely. 2 Corinthians 10:12 (AMP)

How many times have we measured our ministries with the "successful ministries" and left feeling defeated...Feeling like why even bother....I'll never be like that! I think that is the point. We shouldn't try to be like other originals because that just makes us an imitation of an original.

I can only measure myself and my gain by what God has called ME to. We must carefully review God's original plan for our lives and ask some pointing questions of ourselves.

#1 Since I am an original, what goals has God put in my heart?
#2 What am I accomplishing to meet the goals that God has called me to?
#3 What am I NOT accomplishing? Sometimes we can be so focused trying to be successful in the church world we fail miserably in God eyes!
#4 How do I measure up to God's goals God has placed on my life?

In Philippians Paul's says "I count not myself to have apprehended..." Sometimes we must refocus....Forget the past and press onto into the future to lay hold of what God has called us to be! An original!

Many spend so much of there time in the past that they have no future....Others pass by them by becoming the original that God has been waiting for them to be. They come out of the closet and the world marvels at them. Why...Because they are an original. Are you ready to come out of the closet? Be who God called you to be and reach who God wants you to reach. Life is fun! Smile:)

P. Now I can let the whole world know! One of my friends that I have worked with a few years at Camp, Youth Conventions and Fine Arts events approuched me about working with him as an Associate Youth Pastor. He lives in Raleigh North Carolina which is about two and one half hours away from where I live now. So my family, along with our friend began praying. We began talking through what the Associates responsibilities were and it fit who I was. Long story short we went through the process and we accepted the position last week.

So yesterday was the big day at church where we told the congregation that we were transitioning. WOW! People came from all corners of the church crying, giving us hugs and love it was over whelming. Sometimes you expect how people are going to respond, but we never expected everyone to repond this way. Over half of the congregation stood in line just to talk to us. I didn't think that I was going to cry, but when the old ladies started coming forward and sharing words from there heart...it blew that thought. Not to mention all the teenagers who lives we are highly involved. As you can tell, it was a big emotional day for us.

This week is my last week at the church and next week I'll be on vacation packing. Labor Day weekend will be my first Sunday at First Assembly of God, Raleigh, NC. Life is Fun. Smile.

P. For which cause I also suffer these things..." The word suffer is talking about suffering as a result of an outside force or circumstance.

Paul lets us know that his anointing, his calling, and his potential were factors that triggered the demonic attacks which he suffered. He was doing everything right. Satan couldn't find a way to personally destroy Paul, so the enemy was manipulating "outside forces" against Paul and his ministry.

What I love about Paul is he made a decision "NOT TO GIVE UP." He decided he would not stop until he achieved everything that God called and equipped him to be. Just because things got hard in Pauls life didn't mean that he was going to me less passionate about his calling. (Phil. 3:12)

The only way you'll be able to resist the devils attacks and successfully achieve all God has called you to do is by determining in your mind never to stop until you have accomplished your divine assignments. If we want to overcome all the attacks the enemy tries to wage against us through outside forces, you will need to have what I call a "holy determination." To outlast the attacks of the enemy! Having a holy determination is the key to finishing ones race of faith well. Remember the holy part is through the power of God that is living in you. I can do all through through Christ....Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world...I am an overcomer because I am a son of God! God's word motivates me to want to say whoa....Lets go win this race!

Life is fun. Just to help you see how out of it I am I'll share a story that happened to me today.

I had a CYC meeting with a group of Youth Pastors that I network with. We were meeting at a restaurant and we all had our drinks served, but not everyone show up to our meeting. So everyone had to get up so we could moved one table back where it was originally. So I sit down and started looking for my drink...I couldn't find it. I looked over at our network leader and ask him, "Have you seen my water?" He laugh...and said yes....It was in my hand the whole time.

I shared that just to make someone laugh. Life is fun. I remember the time when I used to go to camp as a counselor and I would always seem to come back charged and closer to God. I don't know if it is because I am so used to attending camp or if it is that I have grown up spiritually, but when I go to camp it isn't as spiritually impacting as it was. I guess the spiritual highlight for me was praying for students at the altar. This year we seen many people healed. One guy came who couldn't read and after we prayed for him he could read. We seen God heal people's backs, shoulders, knees, and migranes. Many rededicated their lives and were born again. It was amazing!

So we are back and hitting the ground running. I have a team of students who are working with me to put together an outreach service this Thursday. We are pumped! We are highlighting areas that teens face daily. Fighting in the home, Romantic relationships, partying and depression. In fact we are ending our service with a depression seen using the song: Somewhere I Belong by Linkin Park. Our stage will be a bedroom scene where this guy is tired of dealing with life and tries to kill himself. Fortunantly his attempt fails and God gets a hold of this mans life! I can't wait for the ending of the service already. I believe God is going to reach down and grab a hold of many students lives and transform them. Life is Fun! Smile!

P. Yeah! So I got up early this morning and started mowing the grass. The plus to mowing the grass where I live is that I have a lot of area to cover, but I do have a riding lawn mower to use. So as was mowing Hannah my youngest got my attention. She wanted to ride with me...So I put her on my leg and off we went. We were having a great time. I like to make up songs when I mow so I was making up funny songs with Hannah as I was mowing. She and I started talking and somewhere in our conversation we started talking about how singing makes you feel better if you are sad. It reminded me that sometimes I get so busy that I forget to sing. I should start focusing more on what I have more than what I don't have. What a concept! It's so crazy that things that you as a pastor preach and know sometimes get pushed to the side because life consumes you or emotions do...I really didn't want my time with Hannah to end. I'm not sure if any of you have had the same problems that I have, but assembling people who will commit and help make these events meaningful are difficult. Yes we cast the vision and we make sure we plan together to have a core onboard with the events, but then as it comes time for the event individuals start to bail. Not a good feeling. Panic starts to hit home, then you start contacting others who can fill the empty jobs 80% as well as the one who committed. Then you begin seeing that no one has time or just doesn't have the desire to help out! (You can really tell this is a rant!)

For me, I begin checking to see what outside resources do I have. Then I check and get everything approved and that doesn't work out. So now I'm about to scream! What do I do?! Well thank God a team member on my staff jumped in to rescue the mission!

So I really said all of that to say, thanks for all of you who carry other people's burdens! It means a lot! The pressure in my life is less because of you! You bring a since of security when you are around. Last but not least, thanks for being part of my team! You are amazing!

"Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." - Galatians 6:2

P. Therefore life is sucked out of the organization and soon what should be a living organism dies!

I must admit that change for me is a lifestyle. I love making new memories, meeting new people and impacting new lives. Even our technologies change and I love to embrace them! Change is part of life! The real question we must consider is, "How do we know when we need to change." John Lindel says change must occur when:

- When we are not reaching our mission
- The lifecycle of the organization changes - things age out!
- Crisis - You have to
- Social changes occur
- I will add - when the organization focuses more on existing than impacting lives

"A church is a living thing. When the church stops developing, they begin dying. For a church to start growing and becoming stronger it must change!"

So what does a person do when the organization clearly needs change? He/She must conform and die with the organization, help lead the leadership to change or change by going where change and impacting lives is the core value of the organization.

The question really then is not will you change, but when will you change?

This goes for all areas of life.

- Our Relationship With God
- Marriage/Family/Relationships
- Attitudes/Desires
- Jobs
- Friendships

What do you need to change? Life is fun!:)

P. Our group worked with Paul Palmer with the Atlanta Dream Center. Throughout the week we reached tons of people. Here is some background information before I jump into what we did this week.

Two years ago in an area where the Dream Center is located there were 13 drug dealers and a high crime rate. Today 8 of the 13 drug dealers have been born again and the crime rate has drop to a minimum. Many of the children that we spent time with are in the streets all day and some of the night. We were told that a lot of the children that we seen were kicked out of their house in the morning and weren't allowed to return home until late evening. This just breaks my heart.

Some of the highlights from the trip were:

Feeding the homeless. We would prepare a meal for them, listen to some of their stories, and pray with those who would like prayer. Life just happened to many of these guys and now they have no place that they can call home.

Adopt a Block. This day we bagged up bread and any other food that we had available and went door to door handing out food, talking to the people in the neighborhood, and praying for any needs that they had. The conditions of many of the homes were in very poor condition.

Adopt a Kid. This day we loaded up with a child from the surrounding neighborhoods and each person had one child that they would adopt for a day. We went to a park that had a large water area that they could play and we purchased a coke or ice cream for each child and really got to know each child personally.

Cleaning the Street. On this day we grabbed a garbage bag and picked up garbage that was on the streets. Within one week the sidewalks and alleys are full of trash. We seen a lot of drug bags while cleaning up the streets.

Underground. This day we went to Underground Atlanta with the mission to share the gospel with people. Our group was able to reach out to 3 people. One of the guys really left with some seeds planted that I believe will be harvested soon.

prostitute Night. This was a sad night. All the ladies in our group went out and gave a pink rose and a personalized card to a prostitute on the street. One of the prostitutes just begin crying when she received the card and rose. Many of these ladies don't feel valuable anymore and are in very rough condition. They look nothing like what you would see on TV.

My life was really impacted this past week. How many times do we take for granted what God has given us. We pass people on the street and doing our daily routines without thinking that they need to see someone with Jesus with skin on - love. It's my prayer to begin going beyond my comfort zone and begin reaching the rejected, emotionally destitute and those that others will not reach.

P. I am expecting God to do great things in all of our lives. I think one of the most difficult things in leaving is not being with my wife and girls for a whole week. I just love being with them.

This weekend we had a great time together as a family. My daughter came back from camp Friday and we just embraced each other and hung out togather. Yeasterday we went over a friends house to grill and swim in there pool. So I had some time just to play with the girls and be with Jen! It was special. One of the things that stands out to me is when both of the girls just over took me in the pool hungry to spend time with there father. When moments like that take place I try to embrace them. So here I am doing what ever they want me to do. We played Marko-Polo, I swam the girls around the pool while they were on my back, I flooted in the pool with Sam and then I swam underneth the water to scare Jen. I love doing that! Life is fun! Live it well!

P. Therefore, we sacrifice the more important things in life on the altar of the urgent."

It is so easy to make excuses why it is ok to sacrifice the important things in life, but I keep reminding myself that the important things I could put off to another day are the very weapons that I need to have in place so that the enemy doesn't invade my life.

This morning is an example, today is my day off and I have to help do some unfinished business at the church. I choose to get up this morning early (in fact I am half asleep right know.)and get in the word and map out my day so that I will accomplish everything that is mosimportantnt for my life and my family. I hear many people say that they don't have time for God, or they put off going on dates with therspousece or spending time with there children, but when we make excuse for neglecting the important things in life soon the important will become thurgentnt and many times is more costly to regain!

Don't loose hope, fight to keep that whcih is important to you. As you sacrifice sleep, time, energy and sometimes even money that you really don't have, God will bless you and you will sleep in peace knowing that your house is in order! :)

P. So this morning I went to check my messages and so on. As I am checking, I see that someone named Kayla wanted to be added to my friends list. I couldn't remember ever meeting a Kayla, but I wanted to make sure - which was the wrong choice. I saw that Kayla didn't have a picture. But I wasn't sure if she had visited our youth ministry so I click on the profile and BAM! This naked scary chick jumps off out of the page! In terror, I click off the page in unbelief that this just happened to me in myspace. (When I say terror I am not stretching the truth. She was scary!) Knowing that my guys have a myspace and that they may not be very strong when approached by porn really concerns me! In fact this violation of privacy bothers me even more.

It has been said that 50% of youth pastors struggle with porn and that 9 out of 10 students have viewed porn online! The thing that really bothers me is that we keep getting bombarded with this junk even when we are doing everything possible to live a pure life! (You can tell this stuff strikes a nerve in me!)

Thank God that I don't struggle with this stuff, but to those who do...Let me encourage you to find help. Don't think that you can handle the problem by yourself. Find accoutability through a group or individual. Then stay in the Word and become an expect on the topic of porn addiction. That way you are able to fight this issue with skill and not allow it to rule you! Go to pure online for some resources that may help you. pureonline.com

So brace up your minds; be sober(circumspect, morally alert); set your hope wholly and unchangeably on THE GRACE (divine favor) that is coming to you when Jesus Christ (the Messiah) is revealed. [Live] as children of obedience [to God]; do not con- form yourselves to the evil desires [that governed you] in your former ignorance [when you did not know the requirements of the Gospel]. But as the ONE WHO CALLED YOU IS HOLY YOU YOURSELVES ALSO BE HOLY IN ALL YOUR CONDUCT AND MANNER OF LIVING. There is always a first to when you are dealing with your oldest. The first diaper, step, tooth, words, school, sports team, book and now camp! Can you tell that I miss her a great deal?

This morning I headed to the shop like always and walked into my office and found that someone had been in my office besides me. I think it was Samantha and her sister because there was a chair pulled up at my desk next to my desk chair. As I was clearing off the top layer of my desk I found a bulletin with a beautiful picture of a little girl on it. When I made the discovery of this picture my heart become so happy because I have something special I could hold onto this week as she is off to camp. I feel like a I reverting back to my baby years clinging onto a blankie for security.

So what is the point of this blog? Life is full of seasons embrace the newness (I think that is a word) of each one! Jen(my wife) and I started off our day at 6:30 a.m. hitting the road to a meeting in Raliegh, NC.(It is about a three hour drive.) We are part of a team that plans camp activities and services for junior and senior highers. Anyway, on our way there we loaded up on starbucks coffee - the only way to do early mornings! And we were off! We drove for a little while and then we hit a really country Mickey D's. It wasn't long before Jen got tired and she leaned her seat back to get some rest. The funny thing is my 5 year old was the last person in the seat and she likes to put the seat belt behind the head rest after she buckles. Then she climbs out of the seatbelt without unbuckling. So Jen leans back and has this seat belt wraped around her seat. Jen, now tries to get the seat belt unwrapped from the seat and she gets it over her head and body, but then she realizes it's not unbuckled and she gets tangled. she couldn't get the seat belt from around her body. So she tries to pull the belt around her body and around her legs still without unbuckling, but the only problem is that her legs are up to her face and the seat belt is only inches from being untangled from her feet. So she is stuck in the seat belt by a toe! So I am histaricly laughing and try to muster up all the energy that I can to get her unstuck from the seat belt while driving on I-40 doing 70 mph. And finally we get the seat belt from around her toe and then she is free to go back to sleep! Dude, that was so funny! Anyway, life is so fun! Talk to you later! PD:)

P. Gardening! It first started out with cucumbers, tomatoes, squash, and zucchini. Now we have even more...corn, sweet potatoes, beans peas and yes water melon! This morning as I got up I started looking watering our farm land and found it interesting that some seeds produced much faster than others. My corn is pretty tall, my zucchini and tomatoes are doing great, but this year for some reason my cucumbers and beans are growing, but very slow! I know sometimes it is the soil content that slows the growing process down, lack of fertilizer, but what makes it different this year is that some of the seed is larger than the other seed. Why?

The answer is...This year we made had the whole family part of the seeding process. It was great having Hannah and Samantha help this year. I made the trench then Sam put the fertilizer down Jen cover it and then we had the girls help put the seed down. Then we cover the seed. The soil wasn't the issue because we prepared it, the reason why some seed grew fast and other seed grew slow because of who DEEP the seed was planted. It took the seed that was really deep longer to reach the top of the soil and the other sprouted right through as they should.

So what is the point of this blog. Don't give up! When you keep doing the right things according to God's Word (His Seed) it will produce a harvest, some seeds take longer to sprout, but others take longer because they where planted deep. Sometimes God is trying to produce deep roots in our lives! Keep on Keeping on! And you will see a harvest!

P. The moment I believed that Jesus bore my sin and took my punishment for my sin and confessed with my mouth I became a new creation! So if I am new what changed? Here are some of the things that changed in my life:

- I begin to love
- I wanted to please God
- I felt clean and new inside
- I wanted to be around other believers
- I wanted to read the Bible
- I talked about the Bible and what God had been speaking to me
- I wanted to tell other people what happened in my life
- I noticed that there was a lot of things that I used to do was sinful even before I found out that they were in the Bible.

Things that I used to do: drink, cuss, chase women; they were all foolish to me. I didn't desire to do those things and I didn't see those things as beneficial.

The Bible says that "the wages of sin is death." All that I see when I began to look at my old life is things that were killing me and driving further away from God. Thank God I am a new creation and I have been made alive in Christ.

P. Some people are reading right know and can't believe that I just said that. I didn't say that I was Jesus so calm down.

In John 1:12 - "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."

This passage excites me so much. I have received Christ, therefore I have become the son of God. Imagine with me, the God who created the heavens and the earth through a spoken word, who created mankind from the dust of the ground is my daddy! Think about the position every believer has in Christ. See God is so holy on one hand and so approachable on the other. That means since I am a son of God I have full access to him whenever I want! Let's kick that thought up another notch. Mankind is the only of all creation that God comes to visit to have a relationship with. He isn't seeking to hang out with the animals or the trees, but He longs to be with His people! God loves being with you!

Thank about this. Sonship changes from:
igronace to knowledge
Bondage to self-control
From temporal relationship to eternal relationship.

"What is man that you are mindful of him? Or the son of man that you visit Him." - Hebrews. 2:6

Be encouraged! If you are born again you are a son of God!

P. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. - Galatians 5:16-18

The goal of every believer should be to to walk in the spirit. To help some of you know where I am coming from we must go back to the fall of man. We see that before man was deceived by the serpent God said that if they ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil they would surly die. Well, that is exactly what happened. When the fall occurred Adam and Eve both died. It wasn't a physical death, but the spirit of God that God breathed into man at creation had died. Their communion with God had been cut off and their spirit had died. So now man had to live life by their five senses of sight, touch, smell, hear, taste and by their soulish man, which is the intellect - mind, will, and emotions.

This is where man is today, fallen humanity is living life by their five senses and their soul. If you study the behavior of people you will soon see that most people live and make there choices for life off of how they feel and what there reasoning skills tell they they should do.

For the believer, God sent his son to take punishment for sin and after He was raised from the grave and conquered death, He gave each of us a new spirit. This is called the Holy Spirit. Our spirit was dead and now we have passed from death unto life. We see this in scripture right after Christ rose from the dead. John 20:21b-22 - Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you. And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them Receive the Holy Spirit. The spirit is the place where Adam was able to have full access to God in Eden. This is the central communication headquarters.

So now that we have received the Holy Spirit at out salvation we are called to live by the spirit of God. Instead of relying on your own physical senses and your intellect and feelings to direct your life, God calls us to allow the Spirit of God to be the central place that we go to in making decisions and to live out our life.

As we live our daily lives by the Spirit of God we will not fulfill the lust of our old fleshly man that we used to be. So how do you know if the Spirit of God is directing our life? Good question! The spirit of God will never do anything that is contrary to the Word of God. The flesh however, will base decisions on feelings and rationalizing behavior and actions. Basically, they make excuses why the behavior or action that they are doing is okay. The Spirit says to forgive others, love - be patient, kind, not demanding your own way, long suffering, etc. We will know that we are walking by the spirit of God if we are filtering all our actions and behavior through the Word of God as the Spirit of God directs our every step.

In John 60:63 Jesus says, "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

P. When I read this I think of the many incredible people I have meet people in my life-time that have at one point in their life gave everything they had to the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have watched newly converted believers go after God just to turn around months later to go back from where they have come from. Paul speaking of the Thessalonian church sees them at work in their faith, walking in love and having much "hope in our Lord Jesus Christ." To me that phrase is so important. How many have given up because of lack of "hope" in our beloved Savior! We begin thinking to ourselves: What's the use, I'll keep messing up or I will never be what the word is calling me to be. We begin piling this load of works on ourselves that creates weariness and a since of, "I have already lost this battle before I have begun."

I've been there before. I have put all the work on me, but the truth is.... It is up to God, by His power to give me the ability and strength to walk out my salvation. Yes I must work at it, but He gives the ability. This hope that I have says, No, I might not be able to do it, but with God's strength, I can do all things! This winner's mentality that says Christ has already bore ALL sickness and sin - Drudge - that is every violent attack a person may go through in life, all sinful behavior that we struggle with, every lustful, jealous, proudful temptation that may come our way! He ALREADY TOOK IT TO THE CROSS! It has been nailed there! Jesus not only took upon himself this, but the judgment of the death penalty for all mankind. So every time I try to put the work on me, I am in essence saying, He didn't do enough!

1 Peter 1:3-4 - "His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust."

God's divine power that overcame death and hell has given us the ability to live out our faith everyday. It is not about "my" ability. It is about me continually having fellowship with the Father through His word and His divine power that He has placed in me gives me the ability to live the life He has called me to.

So if you feel defeated, go back to the Word. God has already overcome and planted His Spirit in us to give us the ability to be what He has called us to be! "...Whatever is born of God overcomes the world..." Stop trying to produce what only God can. Keep Believing, He'll do the rest!

P. How many times do we meet people and they are just aggreers. They agree with the Bible and what is taught from it, but they have a hard time living this infallible Truth. Here I was talking to my seven year old daughter and she begin sharing how a little girl was sick in there class tonight and she along with some other girls laid their hands on this sick child and began believing in prayer that God would heal her. To me, that is believing. To believe God's word means: To apply ALL the scripture in your everyday life. It isn't a matter of I believe God can or might, but that we believe that God is true to His inspired word. I love what Smith Wigglesworth said, "Dare to take God at His word." If God says it He will do it! It is fact not fiction or possibility! He will do what He has promised.

Imagine what life would be like within the Christian community if we the believers began activating what we say we believe. The sick would be healed, the lost would hear the gospel, the hungry would be feed and imprisoned - those who are imprisoned to self inflicted pain would be set free from that pain! Luke 4:18 says, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, and recovery sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord." God has anointed His people to do the same. For we are created after His likeness and image to be like our Heavenly Father! LOVE! Love does what Jesus did.

P. The type of life that exist with a purpose to be what God created you for. Not just existing taking up space - eating , sleeping, and working everyday; but a life that wakes up in the morning to express the glory of God. The glory of God is an out-word expression of the character of God! See the Bible says in Psalms 19:1 "that the heavens declare the glory of God.." His glory is expressed in all of creation. One of the greatest expression's of the glory of God is in man. We have been made in his likeness, in the image of God we were created. We are the glory of God! Since we are the glory of God we too have glory. This blog is the glory of Dave. It is an out-word expression of my character! So living life is more than existing, but a life lived to express the glory of God in and through my life. It is my desire that we unite together to live a life that will express to all of creation, "God's glory" Forever-Amen!

P.
